Wishaw boss David Dunn on how FOXES disrupted his previous Junior Cup meeting with Bridge of Don Thistle

The last time David Dunn faced Bridge of Don Thistle in the Scottish Junior Cup, FOXES forced the game to be cancelled.But with the Wishaw boss still chasing a first win of the season, he could do with a fox in the box this weekend if they are to reach the second round.The Beltane Park side host Bridge of Don on Saturday and it has brought back bizarre memories for Dunn, who was playing for Fauldhouse United in 2019 when their clash at Aberdeen Sports Village was called off with the pitch deemed too dangerous to play on.It turned out foxes had dug holes all over the surface and when the match was eventually rescheduled, Fauldhouse prevailed 3-2.Now he takes charge of a Wishaw side seeking their first win after two draws and two defeats in the league.And he said: “I played against them a few years ago with Fauldhouse.“The game got cancelled because of foxes who had dug holes in the pitch and eventually we played it and won the game.“So that was a strange one.“They were quite a good side back then but I’m not too sure about them now.“If we turn up the way I expect us to play, I think we will do well.“But we need to start taking our chances and take our effort and commitment during the week into matches.“Until we start doing that, we won’t win games.”Dunn admits his side could be light on numbers for the clash with a handful of players missing due to holidays, while defender Ewan Herriot has a fractured eye-socket.He added: “I’ll need to see what I have got because there’s a few players away on holidays this weekend, on top of the problems we’ve already got.“But it can be an opportunity for boys who haven’t been playing to make their case for a starting slot.“I need boys to step up now.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitt
