The Queen will lead the nation in a televised address this evening - the second time in a month. Her Majesty will mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day with the pre-recorded message forming part of a day of special programming commemorating the sacrifices of the Second World War generation.

Friday, May 8, marks the day of the formal acceptance by the Allies of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces, bringing the Second World War to a close.
