People are being warned over a "vomiting bug" that produces similar symptoms to Omicron as the virus spreads this January. Known as norovirus, the sickness bug is particularly prominent during the colder months of the year.

Norovirus, also called the "winter vomiting bug", is a stomach virus that can be very unpleasant - with symptoms including nausea and vomiting as well as aches, a high temperature and a headache.

Unfortunately, the Omicron variant of coronavirus also results in similar symptoms, but there are some ways to differentiate between the two.
