Covid rule changes in Scotland tomorrow will impact face masks and social distancing

Two changes will be made to Scotland’s Covid restrictions tomorrow as the country continues to battle its way through the Omicron wave of the virus.

Nicola Sturgeon addressed MSPs at Holyrood on the state of the pandemic in Scotland on Tuesday afternoon. The First Minister said that the data from the last week "paints another broadly positive picture" following a significant drop in case numbers since the start of the month.

On Wednesday, the Scottish Government recorded 8,516 new cases of Covid over the last 24 hour period - which is much lower than the more than 20,000 recorded on January 3.

The number of people with Covid requiring treatment in hospitals and intensive care wards has also dropped in recent weeks.
