TRNSMT day one kicks off with Glasgow revellers in good spirits despite grey skies

The threat of rain and grey skies above hasn't dampened the spirits of festival goers who have turned up in their droves for day one of TRNSMT festival.

As the gates to Glasgow Green opened at midday for the first day of a three-day long festival, a sea of shorts, T-shirts and bucket hats are on display along with the odd saltire to mark the start of the 2023 extravaganza.

Sounds of pop, indie and carnival tunes bellow from the stages, as revellers gear up for the day ahead.As festival goers stroll across the beloved city centre park, excitement bubbles under the surface for headliners like Pulp, making their big return after being last seen as a group in 2012; festival favourite George Ezra, who last played TRNSMT in 2019; One Direction’s Niall Horan, who recently played Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Dundee; and Beautiful South’s Paul Heaton, who provided free drinks for music fans at some of the local bars before the event.Dead Pony kicked things off before Declan Welsh and the Decadent West play.The View are feeling rock 'n' roll backstage, with Kyle Falconer looking resplendent in a shirt and shorts combo with red hearts on it as he shares some banter with his wife, Laura Wilde, and friends from his songwriting camp in Spain.He isn't the only one offering colour at the event as singer Tallia Storm, now a presenter on Capital FM, dons a red-coloured skin-tight outfit with oversized boots.TRNSMT day one is shaping up to be a gentle ease into what is promising to be a jam packed stellar weekend with fifty thousand people expected each day.
