Tornadoes could hit some parts of the country, with wind and heavy rain battering the country on Halloween. Winds have been recorded at speeds of more than 80mph in some areas of southern England.

While the weather is not predicted to be as extreme in our region, winds of up to 40mph are expected later today. Meteorologist Tom Morgan said: "We’ve got a deep Atlantic area of low pressure that’s bringing a very heavy band of rain and squalling winds across the whole of the country, but particularly in the south of England.
