It’s official – Kim and Barry Plath are getting divorced. The Welcome to Plathville stars announced they were ending their marriage almost exactly two years ago, in June 2022, and the matriarch of the family recently officially filed the papers. Learn more inside… According to docs obtained by ET, Kim filed for divorce from Barry on June 26th in Georgia, noting their date of separation as December 23, 2021, six months before they announced it to the public.

The former couple were married July 12, 1997 and share 10 children together, three of which are currently underage. In the court documents, Kim is seeking primary custody of their youngest children – Amber, 15, Cassia, 13, and Mercy, 11 – as she feels she is a “fit and proper parent.” She is also requesting Barry pay child support.

As for their property and assets, the docs state Kim is entitled to “equitable division” of marital assets and she’s also entitled to other debts being divided between the two. “While this was not an easy decision, we know it’s the best choice for both of us,” Kim and Barry told ET in June 2022 when they announced their separation. “We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children.” Kim filing for divorce comes about eight months after her son Ethan and daughter-in-law Olivia announced they were separating after five years of marriage.

The news also comes ahead of the new season of Welcome to Plathville premiering on TLC. The series returns Tuesday, July 16th at 10PM ET/PT.
