This Morning has been hit with several Ofcom complaints after presenter Cat Deeley made a poorly-conceived joke that she was ‘having a seizure’ whilst dancing live on air.
Cat and co-host Ben Shephard were preparing to interview music star Meghan Trainor on Monday’s episode, as the song All About That Bass played.
Cat began dancing and made the remark to Ben, which left viewers in uproar on social media, and some complaining to Ofcom. "Nothing to see here," she quipped as she continued her dance.
When Ben inquired: "You alright? OK", she paused and smiled, saying: "Yeah I'm fine. Just having a seizure. Welcome back." The 47-year-old apologised on Tuesday’s episode for any offence caused, although on Monday June 16, the moment had received 66 complaints to the broadcasting watchdog. "First of all, I just wanted to apologise to anyone who was offended yesterday when I made a light-hearted comment about my dancing style, it really wasn't meant to cause any upset to anybody," she began. "But I can see why that might have been the case.
