The Wanted's Tom Parker drops out of Glasgow OVO Hydro gig due to health reasons

The Wanted's Tom Parker has announced to fans he will be unable to join his band in Glasgow as he is undergoing cancer treatment in Spain.

The band are embarking on their reunion tour which is set to start in Glasgow tonight (March 3) at the OVO Hydro, but due to Tom's treatment he will unfortunately have to miss the first few shows.

Tom, 33, explained in his statement he was doing virtual rehearsals with the rest of his band and was "gutted" he isn't able to join the tour immediately as planned.The father of two announced his diagnosis in October 2020 that he had an inoperable stage 4 glioblastoma — which doctors described as “the worst case scenario”.The OVO Hydro released a statement: "We are so sorry to hear that Tom can't join The Wanted tonight at the OVO Hydro for personal health reasons, but we're sending him all our love and support"Glasgow - let's kick off this party in style and make some extra noise for Tom!"Tom updated fans on social media earlier this morning with the news: "So, as most of you know, I’ve been out in Spain on a treatment programme for the past couple of weeks."It was only meant to last 20 days but due to a couple of logistical changes with tests and results it won’t be complete until the end of the week now which has delayed our journey home.I’m obviously gutted that I’ll be missing the first few shows but as I’m sure you will understand, I have to complete my treatment cycle."I’ve been zooming into rehearsals all week and I know that the show will be incredible and that my boys will hold the fort until I’m back."Can’t wait to see you all very soon, hope you all enjoy the show."Bandmates Jay McGuiness said: “SO ready to have you back!
