Television Academy’s 2024 DEI Report: Where The Org Stands With Diversity & Inclusion

The good news: the demographic diversity of the Television Academy’s membership has increased and women with historically marginalized racial/ethnic identities reported a 10% increase in “belonging.” Now the bad news: members who hold “multiple marginalized identities still hold less positive sentiments across the board as compared to those with more of a majority” while “representation is still lagging for multiple identities,” including at the governors level.

Those are just some of the results of the TV Academy’s 2024 Impact Progress Report on equity and inclusion (read it here). Just over 2,800 members responded to the 2023 survey, which is a mere 11.6% response rate that’s even lower than the number of people who responded in 2021.

The TV Academy blamed the low participation on awkward timing; the survey was conducted right after the strikes. There was also the suggestion that world affairs may have turned members off to the idea of filling out a questionnaire.
