A teenage footballer has died after a "medical emergency" on the pitch. The 13-year-old has been named as Samuel Akwasi. The teenager played for the club FC Cavaliers, based in Nottingham, and the sad news of his death was confirmed by the Nottinghamshire FA.

Samuel Akwasi had played from the team for a number of years, joining in the under nines and playing until his passing. Samuel has been playing for FC Cavaliers from u9s until now. "[He] was very well respected by all his team members." The match between FC Cavaliers Green U13 and WBCY FC Rossoneri U13 was abandoned.

FC Cavaliers Green were playing at home on Saturday (May 7) at the Forest Sports Zone, at the Forest Recreation Ground, according to an FA match listing.
