More than 4,000 athletes from across the globe will be taking part in this year's Paralympics held in Paris. But did you know there was an unusual tattoo rule that could have seen athletes banned from the Paris Games?

Continuing our summer of sport, the 2024 Paralympics have officially begun with the opening ceremony on Wednesday, 28 August, marking the start of the Games.

Up until Sunday, 8 September, there will be 549 medal events across 22 sports, as we watch the nail-biting sports unfold from some of the world's top athletes.To commemorate their participation at the Olympic or Paralympic Games, over the years, many athletes have taken on the tradition of getting a tattoo of the famous Olympic rings.

However, athletes who have the iconic five rings inked on their body could have been banned from competing. Luckily, it seems the rule is no longer in place.
