Stephen Robinson admits he’s relieved he’ll be able to call on Richard Tait again this season after initially fearing the defender’s campaign was over.
The versatile full-back has been playing through a groin issue in recent months, with St Mirren hoping to avoid the 33-year-old going under the knife.
The Buddies took the decision to get the problem sorted over the World Cup break and Robinson now hopes to see him return to action by the end of February.
Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “Richard has had his operation. We’re hoping it’s not as bad as first feared after the surgeon has went in. “We’re looking at about eight weeks with Richard, when we feared it might have been a season-ending injury.“We’re quietly hopeful to have him back this season, without putting too much pressure on him.”“He’s had a groin injury and we’ve tried to manage it without surgery, but ultimately he’s needed it.“He’s important in terms of cover at wing back as he can play in a number of positions.
