Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Florjan Dajti, 33, who was delivering food to a local shop, was described as "hammering" down Glasgow's Great Western Road before ploughing into Sophie Geddes, who was crossing, on December 5, 2020.
Albanian-born Dajti, who had only lived in Scotland since October 2019, held a full driving licence from his homeland, but it was only valid for 12 months in the UK, and had expired weeks before the fatal collision.The High Court in Stirling heard it was calculated from marks on the road that Dajti's Ford Focus car was doing between 37 and 50 miles per hour at the time.The court was told that was an "underestimate" because the exact point of the collision was not known and the calculations had "some conservatism built into them".The speed limit was 30.
Dajti failed to notice Sophie, 16, and failed to brake or take other evasive action in time.
