Young woman dies at scene of Kilmarnock horror crash as two others injured

A woman has died following a horror smash in Kilmarnock this morning.The 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-car smash on the B7038 Ayr Road at around 9.35am.Police say that the woman's next of kin have been informed but formal identification has yet to take place.The Vauxhall Corsa driver passed away after colliding with an Audi Q2.The 67-year-old female driver of the Audi and a 64-year-old female passenger were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Their condition has not been disclosed.Road police are now appealing for information following the crash.Police sergeant Martin Cunningham of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.

Sadly, this young woman lost her life, and our thoughts are with her family and friends.“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.“The road was closed for around six and half hours.
