Spain holiday warning as 'vile' pests could make summer season 'difficult'

Anyone heading off to sunny Spain on holiday this year has been warned that a potential onslaught of cockroaches could make the summer season a 'difficult' one.

The six-legged pests are a common sight in warmer climates, and they often thrive in damp, dark and humid environments. Although cockroaches are unlikely to attack or bite you, the sight of them is enough to make your skin crawl, and they can act as an allergen or asthma trigger as they shed body parts similar to dust mites.

Experts have now warned that certain species in Spain have become 'resistant to insecticides' which could make for some difficult conditions this upcoming summer season, the Olive Press reports.

This is because climate change has sped up the metabolic cycles of some species, with more and more bugs breeding worldwide.
