A delivery rider's electric bike will soon be crushed after being ridden through a red light. Greater Manchester Police says the rider 'made off from officers' who spotted him flouting the rules of the road in Manchester city centre last night (May 12).

But the rider ultimately left himself with nowhere to go, as he pulled into a dead end. GMP shared an image from the scene where the bike was brought to a stop, at the back of a building.

Officers detained the rider and seized his bike, which was capable of speeds above 40mph. The bike's power - reaching speeds above 15.5mph - meant that it required a licence and insurance. The rider was reported for driving without a licence, driving without insurance, driving without due care and attention, and failing to stop for police.
