These were the shocking scenes of travellers crowded together at Manchester Airport this morning - despite the country's coronavirus lockdown.

BBC journalist Ian White tweeted pictures of people stood within a few feet of each other while waiting to collect luggage. Mr White said he had returned on a flight from Barbados, adding: "The shocking scene at Manchester Airport arrivals this morning - no two metre distancing here." The government announced stringent new measures last night in a bid to stop the spread of the virus.

The entire UK population has been asked to stay at home except to go to the shops for 'basic necessities', medicines, and to work if it is not possible to work from home.
