A Scottish Labour councillor has quit the party and joined the Conservatives over its "weak" stance on the Union and not standing up to the SNP.

Councillor Angela Doran-Timson, who was elected to the Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh seat in 2017, said she wants the top priority for the government to be on recovery from the devastating coronavirus pandemic and "not another referendum".The West Lothian politician, who is also a work coach, believes the country needs to focus on creating more jobs and getting people back into work.

Doran-Timson's switch comes after she married Tory group leader Councillor Damian Timson at a ceremony in December last year.
