Scots cat lovers warned over buying kittens online as sellers tout £1,000 pets on Gumtree

Animal welfare experts have warned about buying kittens online as they exchange hands for hundreds of pounds a time. Adverts on Gumtree by Scots sellers offer popular breeds including Ragdolls and Bengals for eye-watering sums.Yet the Scottish SPCA charity expressed fears over the safety and welfare of cats being touted on the internet.Scottish SPCA chief superintendent Mike Flynn said: "Online sites can lead to people buying kittens on impulse that they know very little about.“Unscrupulous breeders can hide their identity online and, in many cases, have no concern for the welfare of the animals they are selling.”Distinctive Bengal kittens can fetch more than £1,000 each - with Ragdolls advertised at £650.Charity bosses advise buyers to get.
