Saudi Arabia has declared the date Eid will take place on for Muslims observing the month of Ramadan. Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-al-Fitr, is one of the two main holidays in the Islamic calendar.
According to astronomers in Saudi Arabia, the sky is too cloudy for the sighting of the moon tonight (April 8), therefore Eid will take place on Wednesday (April 10).
Chief Astronomer Abdullah Khudairi said: "It is not possible to see the crescent today but we will perform the Sunnah and view it at 6:15pm." This means worshippers in Saudi Arabia must carry on fasting for Ramadan until the the 30th and final day of the holy month before the important festival begins.. Eid arrives at the end of the holy month of Ramadan which is a period in which practising Muslims abstain from eating or drinking from sunset to sundown.
