Sir Rod Stewart made sure staff at Gleneagles Hotel had a happy new year as he tipped them £10,000 for their service. The Hoops daft rocker saw in the bells at the five-star Perthshire retreat with wife Penny Lancaster and sons Alastair, 18, and Aidan, 12.

The family looked relaxed and happy as they enjoyed the festivities and celebrated Celtic's victory over Rangers at the weekend.

But they left workers at the hotel even happier as the singing legend, 78, rewarded their efforts at looking after his brood with the incredible sum.Rod previously told the Record: “I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the top hotels in the world and the service at Gleneagles is second to none.“The staff do a terrific job at a very hectic time of the year and deserve every penny.

It’s Scottish hospitality at its very best.”An insider added: “It was a pleasure looking after Rod and his lovely family and we’re delighted that he clearly enjoyed his stay.”The Maggie May icon also had a tip on what they should do with their hard-earned gratuity as he joked: “I advised the boys and girls at Gleneagles to invest the money wisely – stick the lot on Scotland to win the Euros.”Penny took to Instagram on Saturday evening to share a picture beside her husband and Alastair as they held cocktails up for a family snap.The English model captioned the post: "Celebrating 2-1 win to Celtic" as she tagged The American Bar at Gleneagles as the location.Sir Rod and Alastair were both dressed smartly in a suit and tie for the occasion while Penny donned a long sleeve black dress.Celtic won their final match of the year against Rangers at Parkhead yesterday thanks to goals from Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo.
