The sun was shining in Burrs Country Park as Rishi Sunak handed out ice cream and cake to the public and press. But despite a warm welcome from locals on his arrival, the Prime Minister was booed from afar as he left The Lamppost cafe in Bury on Friday (May 31).
Mr Sunak appeared jubilant when one young child told him 'we're voting for you' after posing for a photo with the Prime Minister. "Oh, that's very good", he replied, embracing her. "Thank you very much.
Excellent. I like that. Go tell lots of other people to do that as well." Speaking to the media later on, Mr Sunak said he is 'confident' that the Conservatives can hold onto seats in the North West which they gained from Labour at the last general election.
