Pearl Harbor screenwriter Randall Wallace is set to direct The Swiss Guard action thriller from a screenplay he wrote. Set in the Vatican, the movie centers around a plot to kidnap a newly-installed Pope intent on reforming the Catholic Church and its finances, only to be opposed by the first female Swiss Guard.

There's no word on casting. Production begins in fall 2021 in Rome. Wallace's directing credits include We Were Soliders and Secretariat.

His screenplay for The King, to star Dwayne Johnson, has Robert Zemeckis on board to direct. Wallace was nominated for an Academy Award for scripting Mel Gibson's 1995 best picture Oscar winner Braveheart and he directed and co-wrote the 2014 faith-based drama Heaven Is for Real.
