Public transport concerns raised for visitors to Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall

The boss of Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall has revealed most of their audiences travel by car. Horsecross Arts chief executive Nick Williams told councillors last week public transport - particularly in the evening - was a problem.

The arts chief raised the matter as he presented an update to Perth and Kinross Council's Scrutiny and Performance Committee on September 21.

Mr Williams said there was a "clear issue" regarding transport to and from Perth city centre. Nick Williams said: "One of the things we know is those who say they don't attend or attend very regularly say they find transport into Perth city centre a problem of an evening especially.

We know our audiences that do come nearly all drive. And so there is a clear issue there around those who cannot or do not wish to drive - especially in the darker times of the year." Following the meeting the Local Democracy Reporting Service asked Depute Provost Andrew Parrott - who convenes PKC's Environment, Infrastructure and Economic Development Committee - for his thoughts.
