The popular cafe has now reopened at Polkemmet Country park. The Courtyard Cafe – now dubbed the Country Cafe – has opened its doors again after it was closed in May when the owner retited.

There had been some wrangling over whether or not it might open again and a petition was launched to help its cause. But visitors to the attraction can once again enjoy a hot drink and a bite to eat indoors.

New owner Jade McGowan said: “The Country Cafe would like to thank the public and park users who signed the petition to return the cafe to the courtyard in the park once more. “We are delighted it has opened the doors and acknowledge the support already received from customers who are returning to the cafe, also new faces that are now frequenting the cafe. “We are so pleased to have the cafe in situ once more, open seven days of the week, and our meeting place from the past resurrected and once more the friendly faces in front of our coffee machine, kettle and soup pot.” Councillor Kirsteen Sullivan popped in to wish the cafe well in their new venture.

She said the cafe is “a welcome neighbourhood meeting point for all the park users, families and is also dog friendly”. Polkemmet Country Park has a huge historical value as the ex-Baillies Estate and is a beautiful park with loads of amenities such as the Country Cafe.
