Phillip Schofield's brother Timothy jailed for 12 years for child sex offences
ok.co.ukTimothy Schofield has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars at Bristol Crown Court today, Friday 19 May, after being found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy.Timothy, 54, who is the brother of This Morning’s Phillip Schofield, went on trial last month, with the jury going on to find him guilty of all 11 counts of sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019.
The jury deliberated for five-and-a-half-hours. While he denied the charges, Timothy was convicted of three counts of causing a child to watch sexual activity, three of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, three of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and two of sexual activity with a child.
Following his guilty verdict, TV presenter Phillip issued a statement via social media as he cut all ties with his brother. “My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family,” Phillip, 61, penned at the time. “I hope that their privacy will now be respected. "If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my sibling, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family. "These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts.
As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother." Timothy's trial is said to have caused tensions between Phillip and his This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby as the ordeal left the mum-of-three “deeply upset”.
