Hasan Minhaj front-runner to replace Trevor Noah on ‘Daily Show’: report
Variety recently that the monthslong quest to find a suitable player to replace emcee Trevor Noah has almost reached its end.The South African comedian, 39, departed the late night news show in December, and a revolving door of guest hosts have since filled the coveted seat.According to three unnamed sources, Minhaj, 37, “is not guaranteed to win the position,” as a “deal is not believed to have been finalized” yet.But he “has emerged as a likely successor” to Noah.Minhaj was a correspondent on the show from 2014 to 2018, appearing a handful of times, and was applauded when he guest-hosted the show for a week in March. He also holds the important distinction of being the last “Daily Show” player hired by longtime host Jon Stewart, who left the show in 2015.
