Person hit by train in East Lothian as emergency services race to scene

A pedestrian was struck by a train in East Lothian last night. Emergency services raced to the scene after reports of the incident on the line between Berwick Upon Tweed and Edinburgh at around 10.30pm.

LNER took to social media to inform passengers that there would be delays following the tragedy, reports Edinburgh Live.The casualty's condition is not known at this time, with the line returning to normal around two and a half hours later.Shortly after the incident, LNER tweeted: "It is with great sadness to report that a person has been hit by a train between #BerwickUponTweed and #Edinburgh Services are likely to be delayed or altered at this time in the area."The rail provider tweeted another update shortly before 1am saying that the disruption has been cleared and services had returned to normal.

It is understood that the pedestrian was struck in Dunbar, with several locals taking to social media after noticing sirens and blue lights near the train tracks in the town.British Transport Police have been approached for comment.
