More than 500 people were arrested for drink or drug driving over the festive period in Greater Manchester, including 43 on the notorious New Year's Eve.
Throughout December, Greater Manchester Police participated in Operation Limit, the national drink and drug driving campaign which targets 'high-risk' drivers who 'put lives unnecessarily at risk.' Between December 1 and January 1, officers from the Safer Transport Team stopped and arrested 507 motorists for drink or drug driving offences, with roadside checks carried out across the region.

just click here to give it a go. In addition to the arrests, traffic offence reports were also handed out to drivers for offences ranging from using mobile devices behind the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and speeding.
