'Our family has been destroyed...' Tributes to woman, 22, killed in south Manchester crash

A 22-year-old woman who tragically died after being hit by car in Withington has been named as Imogen Higgs. Emergency services descended on Mauldeth Road West, near to Old Moat Park, at 11.52am on Friday (May 31) following reports of a collision.

Imogen, who was a pedestrian during the incident, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died later that day. They have both been released on bail. Today, Imogen’s family have paid a heartbreaking tribute to her. In a statement issued by Greater Manchester Police, her family said: “Our darling Immy was cruelly and needlessly taken from us on 31 May.

We are all devastated and heartbroken. Our family has been destroyed. “She had graduated with a history degree from the University of Manchester last year and had been working at the University for the last nine months.
