On its way to the Oscars, Christopher Nolan’s historical epic Oppenheimer has set a record at Peacock, landing the biggest launch weekend for any film on the platform.
Upon its February 16 launch, the film surpassed the ratings of last year’s Illumination juggernaut The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Specific stats weren’t disclosed. Currently, Oppenheimer is up for 13 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Directing, Actor, Supporting Actor and Actress, to name a few.
Grossing nearly $1 billion globally when it hit theaters last summer opposite Warner Bros’ Barbie, the film propels audiences into the paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.
