A prolific criminal found with a 'terrifying weapon' on the Metrolink said he was 'going to f****** stab everyone' and threatened to 'blow up Manchester'.

Mark Brooks, 45, a grandfather, said he was 'off his face' when he subjected tram users to the horrific incident, including a mum and her two young children.

Her seven-year-old daughter said she is too frightened to get on a tram again, following her ordeal in Wythenshawe. Manchester Crown Court heard that the mother had been out shopping before boarding a tram to go home, at about 12.45pm on Sunday, February 23.

Brooks, from Crumpsall, began to shout and swear loudly, calling people 'ar**holes'. He was being aggressive but no-one said anything, prosecutor Kate Gaskell said.
