A popular pier in North Wales has been closed to anglers after staff received frequent ‘verbal abuse’ and a gate kept getting damaged.

The pier, in Llandudno, has been a traditional location for a spot of fishing. Yet bosses have taken the decision to close a platform used by anglers as workers have recently encountered problems with certain people, with the end section closed off "for the foreseeable future".

The exact nature of the conversations has not been revealed, North Wales Live reports. The news was announced to the public by Llandudno Pier staff on their Facebook page yesterday.

General Manager Paul Williams wrote: "As of tomorrow (Sunday, July 21), the fishing platform will be closed off for the foreseeable future and subsequently no fishing will be allowed off the Pier.
