North Lanarkshire groups make use of environmental improvements grant

Community groups across North Lanarkshire have made improvements to their local areas thanks to the final round of grants from the council’s post-pandemic fund.Volunteers and charities carried out projects ranging from creating community gardens and caring for local wildlife to litter picks and recycling work using funding from the RecoverNL initiative, launched to support communities in recovering from the impact of Covid and lockdown.A total of 60 groups shared £130,000 during 2023-2024; while an additional £42,000 was provided for winter resilience projects including buying equipment and grit to help vulnerable residents during cold weather.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
