Nine people have died in Scotland in the last six months due to a deadly new street drug believed to be 100 times stronger than heroin.
Nitazenes, otherwise known as 'Frankenstein' drugs, have claimed the lives of dozens of people after arriving in the UK and plaguing communities two years ago.
The super-strength synthetic opioids are thought to be manufactured in labs before being imported from China via the post.And since June, 54 deaths in the UK have been linked to the tablets, of which nine were in Scotland.
The National Crime Agency (NCA), however, fears this number to be much higher as 40 further cases await testing.The UK Government is currently working to classify 15 new synthetic opioids as Class A drugs, making them illegal.
