Scots killer who shot dead wheelchair-bound wife 'appeals conviction' in US

A Scots man jailed for shooting dead his wheelchair-bound wife with her own handgun has reportedly appealed to overturn the Mississippi jury’s guilty verdict.Wayne Fraser, originally from Mintlaw, in Aberdeenshire, shot Natalie Ryan-Fraser the day after the pair had gone out for a romantic meal in Mississippi on December 30, 2021.

During his trial in Lowndes County Courthouse he was accused of killing the university professor with a handgun in Caledonia, Mississippi.

After just three hours of deliberations, the jury found Fraser guilty of manslaughter.The 47-year-old had been accused of first-degree murder but was acquitted of that charge.

He was handed the maximum 20-year prison sentence by judge James T Kitchens Jr. He was also fined $10,000 (£7,800).Fraser's multi-millionaire brother-in-law testified against him during the trial.
