New York City is opening back up amid the pandemic. Mayor Eric Adams ended New York City’s mask mandate for public schools, as well as the proof-of-vaccine requirement for indoor dining, gyms and entertainment venues amid the pandemic on Friday (March 4). Starting on Monday (March 7), students will no longer have to wear masks indoors at public schools. However, children under 5 must continue to wear masks because they are not yet eligible for vaccines.

People will also not be required to show proof of vaccination to go to restaurants, gyms and other venues, including movie theaters.

Masks are still required on public transit and certain venues, like Broadway theaters. “It’s time to reopen our city,” he declared.
