The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that it has launched a new survey of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants to “understand more about their disability related needs”.
Minister for Social Security and Disabilities, Sir Stephen Timms, also said the project has an advisory group of experts including representatives of the disability charity Scope and academic experts.
The latest figures from the DWP show that at the end of July there were more than 3.6 million people in receipt of PIP, including nearly 127,000 people living in Scotland.
It’s doubtful that Scots claimants will be included in the survey as they will be transferring to Adult Disability Payment and the devolved welfare system by the end of next year.
