according to Newsday.DeMille died of Stage 4 esophageal cancer on Tuesday. Born in Long Island, DeMille was known for his suspense and action novels, such as “Plum Island,” “The Charm School” and “The General’s Daughter,” which was adapted into a 1999 movie starring John Travolta.
In a March 2000 interview, the prolific author told January Magazine, “It wasn’t a bad movie. Travolta did a good job. I liked most of it.
They overdeveloped some stuff and forgot other stuff and put things in that weren’t in the book that didn’t need to be put in… But I mean, as a whole, the movie was powerful.
It got terrible reviews from the critics, though.”According to his website, Nelson DeMille was born on Aug. 23, 1943, in New York City, before his family moved to Long Island.
