Jack Grealish has shared his delight at recently meeting former Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel, someone he calls his “first ever hero”.
The Manchester City star shared a photo of the pair together via Instagram on Monday, adding: “If you know, then you know. There’s only one Juan Pablo Angel.” The Colombian was synonymous for his long hair and headband while playing at Villa Park between 2001 and 2007, where he scored 62 goals in 205 appearances.
The forward - who won the UEFA Intertoto Cup with the Villains in his first year at the club - would have been in the first-team during the time Grealish made his first steps in the Villa academy, having first joined at age six. The Blues have won both of their opening fixtures and travel to Switzerland on Wednesday to take on Young Boys. Grealish has not started a City game since the 3-1 win over RB Leipzig in the last round of European fixtures having come back from injury slightly off the boil.
