Jason Holt hopes Livingston can end their Fir Park hoodoo after keeping their slim hopes of a Premiership great escape alive. The Lions could have been relegated from the top-flight by Ross County on Saturday but they produced a dominant display to run out 2-0 winners at the Tony Macaroni Arena, reducing the deficit between them and the Staggies at the bottom to nine points and staving off the drop for now.And Holt knows to stay in the Premiership they will need to sink Motherwell – who they haven’t beaten in their last 15 trips to Fir Park stretching back to 2022 – to keep their momentum going into the remaining three games. The midfielder said: “We wanted to be in control of our own destiny and I thought it was a very strong performance on Saturday.

We thoroughly deserved the win and could have scored more. There’s loads of positives to take from that performance. The determination and energy we showed was good, we got in their faces and there was a lot of quality on the ball as well.“Starting the game like that [with an early goal] helped us get a foothold in the game and we carried it on.

Getting the first goal is obviously massive and we managed to get a clean sheet, which is a positive for the backline as well.

Every game is extremely difficult but we just need to roll onto the next game and get another three points and see what happens.“We’ll look to be on the front foot against Motherwell, show loads of energy like we did on Saturday and try to keep that quality in the final third.
