The University of Manchester has decided to cancel face-to-face lectures and move towards online teaching amid the coronavirus outbreak.
It aims to deliver teaching online 'as far as possible' from Monday, March 16. The university will use next week as a 'transition week', where lectures with a registered cohort of 100 or more students will be delivered online.
Small group sessions and project classes will go ahead as normal next week, but by Friday, March 27, the university hopes to have moved all teaching to online 'wherever possible'.
In a letter sent to staff and students, President and Vice-Chancellor Nancy Rothwell said the safety and health of staff, students and visitors are 'our paramount concerns'.
