Manchester's public health chief says she is 'concerned' and has threatened to intervene after reports beauty procedures such as bum lifts may be taking place in hotel rooms.

The town hall's trading standards department issued a warning on Wednesday (June 26), saying that they had been made aware that "certain cosmetic procedures – specifically Filler Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) or breast augmentation – may be taking place this week in Manchester in non-clinical settings." Dr Cordelle Ofori, the council's Director of Public Health, has now added her voice to the warning and said action could be taken to stop them if the necessary assurances over their safety aren't given. READ MORE: Urgent warning issued as 'certain procedures' taking place in Manchester hotel rooms this week “The Council takes health and safety extremely seriously and has been concerned by reports about potentially unsafe cosmetic procedures taking place" she said in a statement issued to the Manchester Evening News. “These procedures must take place in a clinical setting to mitigate any potential risk of infection and to prioritise the patient’s safety.

Our officers have been working this week to gain assurances that any procedures taking place are safe and being conducted in the appropriate environment.

If these assurances cannot be made, the Council will take steps to intervene." She urged anyone who had been offered a treatment in a location such as a hotel room, or who hasn't been given a location for it, to get in touch with them. "For any information or guidance on what to do if you have booked in for this kind of treatment please contact the Council’s Environmental Health Team by calling 0161 234 5004" Dr Ofori added.
