Man City 'will be relegated if found guilty' of financial breaches amid FFP crackdown

Lawyer Stefan Borson, a former financial advisor to Manchester City, says the Blues will be relegated if they are found guilty of the 115 charges of financial wrongdoing levelled at them by the Premier League.

However, he said that it is highly unlikely that City will be found at fault given the amount of people accused in taking part in the alleged cover-ups.

The charges refer to illicit financing and a lack of cooperation between 2009 and 2018, which City deny. This week, Nottingham Forest and Everton have faced new accusations of breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules, both being alleged to have exceeded the three-season cash loss threshold. City’s case is far different from those before Forest and Everton, and Borson says greater consequences are in store should City be found guilty by an independent commission. “The scale is on a completely different level [to Everton and Forest],” Borson told talkSPORT. “There can be no question that this will end in at least relegation - that’s no question, if those charges are proven.
