Love Island has returned to television screens for its tenth series with a new batch of singletons leading the summer 2023 line-up.

And one person who knows all too well about appearing on the ITV2 show is Tasha Ghouri.Tasha, 24, was the first-ever deaf contestant to appear on Love Island in 2022, where she found love with Andrew Le Page and finished in fourth place with the dishy real estate agent, 28.

Now, a year later, Tasha’s career is going from strength-to-strength and she’s gearing up to celebrate her one-year anniversary with Andrew.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Tasha lifted the lid on life in the villa and why Islanders wear sunglasses first thing in the morning, something which has baffled fans in the past. “I was probably the only one who didn’t wear sunglasses in the morning, I got used to it!” laughs Tasha. “It is bright because it is literally like ‘boom’ [lights come on] and even though you’ve got your eyes closed, your eyes just go light inside so everyone puts their sunglasses on. “But people would sleep behind the glasses and the voice of God [villa voiceover] used to tell them off and be like: ‘We can see you’re sleeping behind the sunglasses!’” Since leaving the villa, Tasha has been using her platform to work with deaf charities, has become a pre-loved ambassador with eBay and has her own podcast Superpowers With Tasha, which celebrates empowering people and their superpowers.Tasha says that being deaf is her “superpower”.
