London's New Year fireworks display over the River Thames has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The world-famous event, which takes place annually on New Year's Eve, is usually attended by tens of thousands of spectators, with people travelling from across the UK and even further afield.
Last year, the usual display was cancelled due to the spread of the Alpha variant of coronavirus, which put the majority of the UK into strict lockdown measures over the winter.
