Livingston wrestling academy has the PWR to teach sport to fans

Wrestling fans of all ages have been invited to try the sport in Livingston – with coach Andy Roberts promising nobody will get pummelled.With experience in both WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), the 35-year-old knows what he’s talking about, and says his academy is set up specifically to help people to reach their own level.Roberts opened Pro Wrestling Ready (PWR) Pro in Deans North Road in November last year, and says most people who try the sport get hooked straight away.“Our retention rate from people giving it a shot and staying is almost 100 per cent,” he said.“It’s a really calm, clean and inclusive environment.“We go with people, we’re not going to bring people down, beat them up and stress them out, and all that kind of stuff.“In the UK you can’t really learn professional wrestling like you do with other sports, and you have to wait until you’re an adult.“Myself and a wrestler that been friends with for a long time came up with a progressive wrestling system that’s similar to judo and karate and stuff like that.“The idea is that you could start early, learn the basics, move up to junior class from 12 years old, learn a bit more, and move up to adult and so on and so forth.“We really want to give students a base, so that when they finally got to an age where they were an adult, they already knew the fundamentals of wrestling, and then we just needed to teach them the rest.“We were the first training school in the country to do that, and it has been really successful.“We work with people to help them to progress.
