It’s something you tend to see very rarely in football.But Letham striker Dale Smart has now scored direct from a corner in back-to-back games.The set-piece specialist’s latest finish - the first of his hat-trick - arrived on Saturday at home to Forfar United.“Some have said the corner was lucky, but I scored one last week away to Dundee North End as well,” Smart laughed.“I definitely knew what I was doing!”Smart’s three goals were complimented by others from Mark Shaw, Aidan Edwards and Connor Galletly in a 6-1 win.“Saturday was a very deserved three points,” Smart said.“We knew it was a great chance for three points being at home against one of the bottom three.“To start fast and take the game to them was the plan.“We went in 3-0 up at the break and, although Forfar came back into it at the beginning of the second half, we saw the game out well and scored some more good goals too.”He added: “I’m feeling good at the moment and I think Saturday shows that.“I’m always confident of scoring goals wherever I am.“Having played with a lot of the boys at Letham for a long time, I always know they will create chances for me and it’s up to me to put them away.”Smart not so long ago returned to Letham from East of Scotland League side Luncarty.“It’s been great being back,” he said. “It was a bit of an unexpected one as my work situation changed meaning I couldn’t commit at Luncarty.“But being back at Letham has given me the chance to play more regularly.“It’s a real family feel at the club and everyone in the squad is really good mates.“And it’s fantastic to see the club stepping up to juniors after great success at amateur level.
