As reported by the Telegraph, Maddison - who is approaching the final 12 months of his current deal - has begun negotiations with the Foxes over a new long-term deal.
It comes after Newcastle United had an offer worth up to £40million rejected in the summer transfer window. According to a report from the Daily Mail last month, City are interested in signing the England international at the end of the season, with Pep Guardiola wanting more goals from those behind Erling Haaland.
It adds that several other Premier League sides are fans of the 26-year-old, who is said to be keen to test himself among the elite.
